Q1. Read the following passage and make notes in an appropriate format: (15)
Most of us nowadays carry the world in our pocket! It is amazing, but true. A mobile phone keeps us connected to the rest of the world all of the time. Today, parents do not have to remain in tension if their sons or daughters are late. Businessmen do not have to queue up before a telephone booth to make an important call. Apart from making calls and sending messages, the mobile phone is used as a multipurpose gadget. It is a calculator, a timepiece, a calendar, a voice recorder, a media player, a camera, a gaming device, a net browser, and so much more. The invention of mobile phones is a great achievement and plays an important part in our daily lives. Its many aspects are beneficial but it has some negative effects as well. The development of the mobile phone has made our lives very convenient. Communication between people has become quite easy and very fast. We can keep in contact with others from any place on the bus, in a street or while in a meeting, by sending a message that costs us much less than the price of a call. The Internet can be accessed through it and it is also used to take photos and shoot videos. Business deals can be done on a single call through a cell phone outside the office, in a park, or in any shopping centre. This invention gets the world closer and makes it easily accessible. Though the mobile phone is a giant step of technological advancement, its abuses cannot at all be overlooked. Talking or texting while driving may lead to accidents. The radiations of mobile may be dangerous to health and may cause headaches, earaches, and blurring vision. These invisible radiations destroy the cells located in the ear which cause damage to the brain and to the nephrons in the head region. Its use in certain places causes disturbance sometimes, such as in a classroom, a movie theatre, or a hospital, etc. Mobile phones with cameras are causing serious privacy problems with people using them as a hidden camera to take pictures and make videos. And although the mobile phone brings the world in our pockets by keeping us connected all of the time, it also unfortunately disconnects us from our loved ones.

Q3. Write a paragraph of 100-150 words on any one of the following topics: (10)
b) The role of media
Ans) The media is vital in forming a healthy democracy. It is a democracy's backbone. The media keeps us informed about numerous social, political, and economic events taking place across the world. It's like a mirror that reflects or tries to reflect the harsh realities of life to us. Over time, the media has surely developed and become more active. At election season, it is only the media that reminds politicians of their unfulfilled pledges. Excessive coverage of elections on television news networks aids people, particularly illiterates, in choosing the appropriate person to power. This serves as a reminder to politicians that in order to stay in power, they must keep their commitments.
Television and radio have made considerable progress in teaching the uneducated masses in rural areas by making them aware of all current events in their own language. By drawing attention to the exploitative behaviours of village leaders and moneylenders, governments have been able to take more harsh measures against them. The media also reveals flaws in the democratic system, allowing the government to fill in the gaps and make the system more accountable, responsive, and citizen-friendly. A democracy without the media is akin to a car without tyres.
We are constantly assaulted with information in this age of information technology. With a single mouse click, we can obtain a sense of what's going on in the world. The flow of information has exploded in leaps and bounds. The perfect marriage of technology and human resources (journalist) has unearthed systemic corruption in politics and society, leaving no stone untouched. Thanks to technological advancements, journalism has undergone a transformation.

Q5. Write a report in 250 words of an interview you had with a Film Star who graduated from your institution. (20)
Ans)
Aman Kumar,
1st February 2022
Mumbai.
Good morning everyone. Today we have a dynamic personality before us, Ms. Ragini Shah, who is a successful film star and an alumni of our institution ABC University. So, without any further delay, let’s ask Ms. Ragini about her experience in this bling bling entertainment world.
What interests you in working within this field?
“I’ve loved film since before I can remember, and your studio’s films are among my favourites. Honestly, I got into film editing because of you. Being behind the scenes and being a part of that magic—even in the smallest of ways—is an amazing feeling, and I would be so honoured to bring my knowledge to work here. Additionally, I do my best work as part of a team and watching your behind-the-scenes production videos on your website made it clear that you value collaboration and movement across roles.”
Tell me about your communication style in film and especially on set, how do you work with people, day in and day out?
“Having worked with film crews in the past, I’m well versed in interacting with a diverse array of personalities and know how to tailor my communications to different types of people. I like to be transparent and avoid miscommunication at all costs, so I try to have all important conversations in person, and I jot down any key takeaways at the end to ensure we’re on the same page. Also, in the fast-paced world of film, I find that you need to be ready for anything, so my phone is on me 24/7. That way, anyone, anywhere can get to me if they have a crucial need.”
Let’s talk about something that you love. So can you tell us, what’s your favourite movie/TV show and who’s your favourite director?
“I just love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It combines so many genres—sci-fi, romance, comedy, drama—in a really clever, memorable way. The films that matter to me are interesting and creative, but also enjoyable and accessible. Great films need to appeal to a lot of people so that they can have an impact, and I feel like Eternal Sunshine really did that. I can watch it again and again and keep discovering new things.”
Where do you see yourself in five years? When you consider the future, what are your career goals? Would you like to follow a natural progression from this position to more senior roles in film in future?
“I’ve been an actress for years, but now I am learning to develop some skills in production as well. I want to learn the art and efforts that the whole team works on behind the scenes. I’ve completed the production assistant internship I’m currently doing, I’m excited to build my skill set as a production coordinator for your organization, learning everything I can from your expert team. Over time, I’d like to work my way up and diversify my knowledge—I’m really interested in learning about video editing, specifically. Ultimately, I want to be a producer, but until then, I want to keep moving forward and using my creativity to support great films.”
One final question of the day, do you prefer to work independently or with others?
“On any film, I consider the whole crew to be my team, and I love that. As an actor or even as someone who works in the entertainment field, you work with all sorts of people, and I really thrive in that environment. It’s incredibly creatively inspiring. At the same time, I enjoy those times where I can focus and be in my own head—printing, checking scripts, acting. I can ensure everything’s on track. I have sole responsibility for what happens, and that’s a good feeling, too.”
Amazing! Ms. Ragini, thank you for taking some time off from your busy schedule to answer a few questions about your life! We would love to interview you again someday when you finally uptake your new role as a production coordinator in future. We wish you all the best for you future endeavours.
Q6. Write a composition of 250-300 words based on any one of the pictures given below: (20)
Ans) The family is the foundation of society; without a secure, united, and well-organized family structure, society will fall apart. The entire society and nation would vanish. Everyone must set aside appropriate time to spend with the rest of the family members in order for the family to be connected and organised. Everyone, including myself, has a family. My family is very important to me. My family and I share a home. I'm going to tell you about my family today. Our family consists of four individuals. My family consists of my parents, sister, and me. Ours is a little family.
A tiny family with parents and two children walks hand-in-hand in a small park in photo (b). Let's take a look at it from the perspective of the child in the image. They usually tell us about a nice narrative at night, which we always enjoy. We savour all of our times with them and record them on our phones. My parents adore us both and are always concerned about our needs. I am really blessed and grateful to have such loving and caring parents. I miss my parents a lot when I'm at school.
My mother is a wonderful person, and we all adore and care for her. Every day, she provides us with delectable snacks and dinners. My parents look out for each other. My mother informs us about Indian culture and heritage to pass on to the next generation. We joyfully celebrate all holidays and exchange gifts with one another. We live in cities and have a sophisticated way of life, yet my parents always make time for me and my sibling. Both of my parents assist me with my homework. At supper and on the field, we spend some time together.
